Measures to Prevent Corrosion of Metal Valves

1. Improve the machining technology and structure of valves.

Measures to prevent corrosion should be considered from the beginning of valve design. A valve with reasonable structural design and correct machining technology will undoubtedly have a good effect on reducing the corrosion of valves.

Therefore, the related departments should improve the valve parts which are unreasonable in structural design, incorrect in process technology and easy to cause corrosion, so as to meet the requirements of various working conditions.

2. Use nonmetal materials.

Non-metal materials have excellent corrosion resistance. As long as the service temperature and pressure of the valve meet the requirements of nonmetal materials, the corrosion of valves can be avoided. The valve body, bonnet, lining, sealing surface, etc. are usually made from nonmetallic materials. The lining is made from polytetrafluoroethylene, chlorinated polyether and other plastics, as well as natural rubber, neoprene, nitrile butadiene rubber and other rubber, while the body and bonnet are generally made from cast iron or carbon steel, which not only ensures the strength of the valve, but also makes sure that the valve will not be corroded.

3. Control the corrosive environment.

In the production environment, toxic gas and micro-powder emitted by the chimney and equipment will cause different degrees of corrosion to the valve. Operators should clean and oil valves at regular intervals according to operation specifications, which are the effective measures to control environmental corrosion. The rise of the environmental temperature and air pollution will accelerate the corrosion of the valve, especially for those in an enclosed environment. Open type factory buildings should be used as far as possible, or measures should be taken to ventilate and cool the factory buildings, so as to slow down environmental corrosion.
