The Design of Valves Is Related to the Costs of Valves

Reducing costs are the goals of various industries and the valve industry is no exception. Some owners in the valve industry think that the design cost of valves greatly influences the overall cost of the valves. Do you know how does the valve design influence the total cost of valves?

The influence of design factors on costs is related to the following aspects:
1. The reasonable structure of the valve
Reducing weights and enhancement are the goals for a valve designer, because the reasonable structure of the valve will have an influence on weights and manufacturability of valves, further influencing procurement costs of raw materials and process costs. There is no complete set of mechanical calculation theory can not only meet the valve's performance, but also minimize the valve's weight due to complicated structure and shapes, uncertainty and instability of the actual pressure, instability of chemical properties, uncertainty of the actual bearing capacity on the engineering pipeline, physical nature of main materials, lack of corrosion data of various materials under different media and pressure. However, with the development of science, material science and theories of mechanics, especially the use of computer technology in the material mechanics field, the computing power for materials is gradually improving. A valve designer should try his best to design a valve with reasonable structure, shapes and weights.

2. The rationality of the valve's function
A valve which not only meets the requirements for users, but also reduces its own cost has the most reasonable design. The reason is that the rationality of the valve's function not only influences the manufacturing cost and market reputation of the valve but also the potential valve market. Collecting data extensively, well performing statistics and analysis, and determining a basic valve type with basically complete functions and a certain degree of improvement as the finalized product of this valve series should be done for a valve designer. A basic valve can simply meet the requirements for most users. As for those few users who require better performance and more complete functions, a few changes can be made to satisfied the customers. This kind of valve indeed has a reasonable design and can reduce costs.

3. The reasonable appearance of the valve
The reasonable appearance of the designed valve will have an impact on the batch of the valve on the market, which in turn influences the batch cost. There is a popular saying in the mechanical design industry, which is called "if the designed product is ugly, it must be unreasonable". In other words, there must be unreasonable design in terms of stiffness and strength. If we want the required strength and performance to be met, materials must be added, so a valve with a good design is not only good-looking, but also saves materials and reduces costs. However, i am not trying to say that we should only care about the good appearance of the valve, but overlook the quality. As a valve manufacturer, we strive to provide valves with not only good appearance but also good quality. When they succeed in the trial, there will be more orders. The material utilization rate, process fluency and management cost will be reduced if a valve can be mass-produced.

4. The process rationality of the valve
A valve designer's working experience is very important when it comes to designing a valve. The process rationality of the designed valve will have an impact on the rationality of the processing technology and processing cost. The simple and complex structure of valves, design of the processing surface, matching accuracy, and the assembly will all have an impact on the manufacturing of the valve, forming of the semi-finished valve, difficulty of the processing technology, amount and time of processing, difficulty of painting, packaging and transportation.

A qualified valve designer is required to not only have capabilities of design and calculation but also rich process knowledge and be familiar with the entire manufacturing process of valves. A good valve designer must know well about the manufacturing processes such as casting, stamping, machining, post-welding treatment, assembly and test. Only by doing this, can the valve designer apply his own manufacturing experience to the actual design so that the waste of valve design will be prevented.

5. The good quality of the valve
The good quality of the valve will have an influence on the sales cost of the valve, especially the after-sales service cost. The quality of a valve not only determines the service life of a valve, but also determines the reputation, survival and development of a valve enterprise. For many users, they are pursuing valves with the most comprehensive performance, the best material and quality, and the lowest price. As for a valve manufacturer, while pursuing the best quality, we also pay more attention to the lowest cost of the valve. As a valve designer, it is necessary to find a balance between the user's needs and pursuit of the enterprise from a design perspective so that the interests of both parties can be reasonably maintained to the utmost extent.

If the function of the valve is not perfect and the quality is not up to standard, various problems and failures will occur in the actual operation of the valve. Therefore, manpower, materials and financial resources must be used to deal with the problems and improve the product. Many valves that are profitable when they are sold become meager, unprofitable, or even at a loss after this process. There is no doubt that this kind of problem is a problem which bugs many valve companies. It not only has an influence on the profit of the company, but also damages the image of the company and restricts the development of the company.
