How to Maintain Ball Valve?

1. Before you use the ball valve, spray water to clean the overflow part of the pipeline and valve body to allow residual iron filings and other foreign matters to enter the valve bore.

2. When the ball valve is closed, some media remain in the body and exert a certain pressure. Before you repair the ball valve, first close the stop valve in front of the ball valve, open the ball valve to be repaired, and then completely release the internal pressure of the body. For electric ball valves or pneumatic ball valves, the power supply and air supply must be disconnected first.

3. General-purpose soft seal ball valve uses PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) as sealing material, and the sealing surface of hard seal ball valve is made of metal. If the pipeline ball valve needs to be cleaned, care should be taken to prevent damage to the sealing ring and leakage during disassembly.

4. When you remove the flange ball valve, the bolts and nuts of the flange must be fixed first, then all nuts must be tightened slightly, and finally tightened. Forcibly fix a single nut first, followed by other nuts, which may cause the flange surface to leak or crack due to the uneven stress of the surface, leading to media leakage at valve flange butt point.

5. When cleaning the valve, the solvent used must not conflict with the parts to be cleaned and not cause corrosion. If it is a special ball valve for gas, it can be cleaned with gasoline. Other parts are usually cleaned with reclaimed water. During cleaning, the residual dust, oil stain and other attachments shall be thoroughly cleaned. If it is impossible to clean with clear water, the parts can be cleaned with alcohol and other cleaning agents on the premise of not damaging the valve body and parts. After cleaning is completed, the cleaning agent should be thoroughly volatilized before assembly.

6. If there is a slight leak during use or packaging, you can tighten the stem nut slightly until the leak stops.

7. If the valve is kept open for a long time, the body and components will rust and cannot be used normally. Ball valves must be protected from rain, moisture and blind flange. To ensure stable performance, valves stored for more than 12 months should be retested.
