• The Difference Between Soft Seal Ball Valve & Hard seal Ball Valve

Soft Seal Ball Valve & Metal Hard Seal Ball Valve

There are many kinds of ball valve used in different working condition according to different structure forms, connection methods and body materials. The seal form of all types of ball valve can be classified into two categories: soft seal and hard seal. Due to different sealing materials, their characteristics, performance and applicable working condition will also be different.

1. Speaking of price, compared with electric metal hard seal ball valve, the electric soft seal ball valve is cheaper, for the cost is lower!

2. The seat of electric hard sealing ball valve usually are made from metal when referring to material, such as stainless steel and hard metal alloy. This kind of ball valve should meet higher requirements of precision and technology, has wider range of application, which is suitable for the working condition of normal temperature, low temperature and high temperature and high pressure.

The seat of electric soft sealing valve usually is made from fluorine plastic, rubber, resin, and so on. This kind of valve is often used in the condition of normal pressure and temperature or normal pressure and low temperature.

3. In terms of structural mechanism, electric soft sealing ball valve is easy to achieve good sealing effect and resistant to corrosion, acid and alkali; No high temperature resistance, the sealing surface is easy to wear, relatively poor mechanical performance are the defects. This kind of ball valve is used for the working condition of high sealing performance, containing corrosive medium but no particles and normal temperature and pressure.

The electric hard sealing ball valve is the opposite of soft sealing ball valve. It has advantages of high temperature resistance, wear resistance and good mechanical properties. And its has disadvantage of poor sealing performance. It is recommended to choose hard sealed ball valve if the medium contains solid particles or the medium temperature is higher than 250℃.

4. Speaking of leakage level, the common leakage level of hard sealed valves is V and the highest level can reach VI. The leakage level of soft sealing valve is VI.

The biggest defect of soft sealing valve is poor wear resistance. After using a period of time, if there are solid impurities in liquid medium, the valve seat may be easily frayed, resulting in more leakage and worse sealing performance.
